Our mission
The goal of the UCSF Hip Joint Preservation Center is to provide comprehensive care for patients with hip injuries with strategies to preserve, repair, and restore.
From children to adults, our patients will be provided with advanced treatment options tailored to their specific conditions and injuries.

Treatment options
- Diagnostic imaging, including ultrasound, X-ray, arthrography, computed tomography, and specialized magnetic resonance imaging
- Physical therapy (advanced programs including myosfascial decompression)
- Bracing, including Pavlik harness and hip abduction for infants/children
- Image-guided injections (ultrasound/fluoroscopy)
- Hip arthroscopy (minimally invasive procedures) for femoro-acetabular impingement and sports injuries, including labral tear, cartilage injury, gluteus and proximal hamstring tears.
